Botany, Course number 106, Year-long, 1.0 cr, recommended for grades 10-12, this course also counts as a science course. This class will meet your science credit for graduation.Topics studied are careers, plant science, soil science, plant propagation, growing greenhouse crops, vegetable and fruit production, landscape design, floral design, and turfgrass management. This is a project based class; very much hands-on.
Greenhouse Management and Aquaponics, Course number 109, semester, 0.5 cr, recommended for grades 11-12 with a prerequisite from Botany. This class is an advanced plant production course. Topics include: greenhouse design, environmental controls, crop scheduling, record keeping, customer service, marketing, and Integrated Pest Management. Students will learn skills needed to grow potted greenhouse crops and design flower arrangements. This hands-on course uses the greenhouse.
